Nigeria Will Become Like US, UK After Tinubu’s Reforms, Okpebholo Predicts
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has expressed optimism that Nigeria could attain living standards comparable to those of the United States and the United Kingdom when President Bola Tinubu completes his economic reforms.
Okpebholo’s remarks reflect his support for Tinubu’s policies, including changes to fuel subsidy arrangements and foreign exchange management, which the Federal Government says are aimed at addressing longstanding economic challenges.
However, the reforms have continued to generate debate over their impact on Nigerians, particularly rising living costs, transportation fares, food prices and business operations.
While supporters argue that the policies could strengthen the economy in the long term, critics have called for more effective interventions to cushion the effects of the transition on households and businesses.
Achieving living standards comparable to those of the US and UK would require sustained economic growth, job creation, improved infrastructure, quality healthcare and education, enhanced security and accountable management of public resources.
Okpebholo’s prediction adds to the ongoing national debate over the potential outcomes of Tinubu’s reforms and whether they will translate into improved living conditions for ordinary Nigerians.
