Osun Works Ministry Inspects Collapsed Bridges in Imesi-Ile After Community Appeal

The Osun State Ministry of Works has inspected the collapsed bridge along the Okin axis of Imesi-Ile following concerns raised by residents over the impact of flooding on movement and agricultural activities in the area.

Officials of the ministry visited the affected location in Imesi-Ile and inspected the collapsed bridge, alongside the Ọ̀kín Bridge and two other bridges located along the same road.

The development followed an appeal by community leaders for urgent government intervention after flooding washed away the bridge, disrupting access between Imesi-Ile, Ilare, Ajeoku and Otan-Ile.

A community representative who accompanied the ministry officials during the inspection said the visit was an important step towards drawing the government’s attention to the condition of the bridges and the challenges faced by residents and farmers using the route.

The inspection is expected to enable the ministry to assess the extent of the damage and determine the necessary steps required to restore safe access along the affected road.

Residents had earlier called on the Osun State Government to intervene urgently, noting that the route is heavily relied upon by farmers transporting agricultural produce and residents travelling between the neighbouring communities.

The latest development has raised hopes among residents that necessary measures will be taken to address the damaged bridges and restore movement along the route.
